I guess I need you, baby.15 May 2004 - 2:16 a.m. Damn ubiquitous Britney. So... got all my marks back. They were all in the 60's, except for good old MUS306H (74) and MUS300H (72). What was stupid is that my two lowest marks are in my two history classes. What the fuck? I am such a better social science student, it seems... I'm thinking maybe the humanities aren't for me. Well, I knew that already, but I really like history. Arrgh. So tonight was the first Tulipfest night. Saw Simon Wilcox, Pilate and David Usher, who were all great. It was so nice to be back at outdoor concerts, the smell of beer and fried food, the lawn chairs, the night air, the people, the local radio personalities, the sunscreen... Plus I love Major's Hill Park. On the left is the Parliament buildings and on the right is the National Gallery. Myra, Nat and I met Catriona (friend from Glebe) and her friend Fiona, an exchange student from Brisbane. Which, frankly, was very cool. We discussed our two countries at great lengths. After the concert we walked all the way from Major's Hill Park to Catriona's house (in the Glebe, about 25 minutes away) and sat in the backyard. Conversation ultimately turned to university - what else do we have to talk about? We compared res's between King's (Halifax), McGill and U of T. Res at McGill sounded crazy - Catriona and Fiona told us everyone they knew were insane. Quite odd. The walk back to my house (40 minutes) was spent comparing the biggest university in Canada to one of, if not THE, smallest university (King's). Though you can't really, can you? The whole thing made me miss T.O and Whitney and all of the people there... it's only been a week! What are we going to do? Well, what am I going to do? I love seeing my friends here, but I miss everyone from school. Someone come visit me. Luckily Tanya is now back from Florida. We're seeing Troy tomorrow (ow OW). Funny that we don't see each other much while at school... but you better come visit our house!! Damn, I miss our house. I saw Sunshine earlier in the week - saw her new home (Preston and Somerset, which is Little Italy at Chinatown for T.O. folk), met one of her roommates and watched Mallrats. Here's some advice: Don't drive while even just the slightest bit stoned. It's scary. I'm stupid. It's a good thing I don't mind walking at night. I could walk for hours at nighttime... even though it is gross and humid already. I had forgotten how French Ottawa is. Living in T.O. I noticed there weren't any French people at all. Coming back here, it's very noticeable. I have to remember not to be surprised when all the people on the bus around me are speaking French, or all the Tulipfest volunteers speak in French first. Not to mention all the signs are bilingual... I'm just like, Oh yeah, right, it's Ottawa. I forgot. On a side note, I really want to go to Montreal. It's so close by, and I'm just starting to know some of it. After hearing people talk about McGill, and after watching a lot of Musiqueplus today... it's a city I wish to explore a lot more. Plus, I can visit James at the same time. I also forgot how much I love my city and I am glad to be back, being downtown etc(it looks its best at the moment, lots of tulips obviously for the Fest). I'm a very sentimental/loyal/patriotic person. Ottawa rocks my world. As does David Usher, especially while singing St. Laurence River. Rrrowrr... Sigh. Totally ordered a BBQ chicken pizza for dinner. Mmmm... Oh, did I mention I got a job? I saw the ad (Human Resources dpt. Jobs for Students website from the govt.), called to find out details, went for an interview and got offered the job. In the same day. Thursday. Friday (today)I had training. Saturday I start my first shift. Scary. You are now reading the words of a Market Research Interviewer for Opinion Search. That's right, kids, I will be working in a call centre all summer, phoning businesses and residences trying to get people to do surveys. Thank God I'm not selling something. I'm sure I'll probably hate it... but hopefully they'll give me lots of hours. Well, I schedule my own every week. So getting days off will be no problem. It's in Place Bell, which is right downtown on Elgin and therefore close to everything. Though, in downtown Ottawa, everything is close to everything. But it's great to pass across Mackenzie King Bridge afer getting off the bus. On my left is the new City Hall and Confederation Park. On my right is the Parliament, Chateau Laurier and NAC. Underneath is the canal. It's very nice in the summer... Ottawa rules. These entries aren't often, but they're long when they happen. I apologise. Damn Britney!! What have I done? |
