Back to the suburbs...

08 March 2004 - 12:56 a.m.

My ego has been stroked lately:

- I learned one of my friends has a small crush on me

- Jen told me she was telling Tia (her roommate) about how much fun I was. (fun!)

- Jen also pointed out that some guy was checking me out on the street the other day

- Ashley informed me yesterday, somewhat drunkenly, but still, about how cool I was.

- Megan from BC informed me that while talking to Dave about us Cody folk, he replied, "Yeah, but Sophie's the best."

All of these things make me feel loved :-)

So this weekend it was another trip to that foreign place, the suburbs. Etobicoke to be exact, but this time to Chris'. Very fun - was a bunch of us and some of his friends, including Adrian, Rick, and Catherine, who we already knew.

Watched the Habs game, listened to a lot of music (White album, the Band, Hole(!) a lot of Neutral Milk Hotel and Weezer), drank a lot, danced to a lot of music (the Britney Spears could not be stopped! They dragged Steph and I in!) and generally chilled. A lot of KD was eaten. The turning point was when I was in the kitchen, and Chris and Ash appeared, conned me into having a shot of whisky (funny, I never thought that would be a main university drink. Maybe we're just classy) and ended up smoking a joint with Chris and Rick at 4:20 am. After that, I remember being not quite coherent, watching Much, singing to the Darkness... but not much else.

We spent the afternoon watching Terminator 2. Har har.

Also woke up to snow, of all things. After a week of it being like 10 degrees outside... Grrr.

Funny how we entertain ourselves around here when we're bored. James and I wrestled for about 20 minutes, with me trying to keep him from downloading more games on my computer (SimCity has kidnapped many of my friends, as well as Risk.), just for fun though really. Duck-taping people is another popular activity, but it's painful. Making things out of duck tape is also common.

Tried to get James and Mike to watch Harry Potter tonight, since it was on the CBC, but James and I both slept through most of it. Aah well.

Ballroom dancing is going well - the jive is fun because we get to spin around twice. We did foxtrot, cha-cha, jive, and started the waltz. Last thing: the tango. Oh my.

Yoga is going well. And James and Steph and I are actually going to start our going-to-the-gym plan next Saturday.

So, Get Up Kids concert on Tuesday. Two essays due on Friday, music review due the next Tuesday. Fuck. Definitely not going to get those done.

But once those are done, I have one test in the last week of class in anthro, then just my exams. It's going by so quickly... how will I last the summer without seeing everyone? I'll try desperately to get to Montreal to see James, and back here to help look at houses. Also Etobicoke - to go out with Sophie and Saba. :-) Sophie and I have big plans to go out together, and act foolishly. Should be fun.

But Ottawa will be fun as well. I'll get to see Sun, and Tanya more, and Saskia and those girls. And Myra if she actually comes home!
