Coke, coke, coke...03 April 2005 - 9:16 p.m. This week: Got two of my worst marks of this whole year back in the same week... Grrr! And I was on such a good role, too, getting B's and such. I'm worried, due to the fact that my worst marks are always in history. This is bad news for a history major. Monday was a trip to the Supermarket with Mike and Soph, uber-trendy restaurant in Kensington for Jason Collette's acoustic series. His guests (on stage): Hayden, Howie Beck, Kevin Drew, Andrew Cash and some Aussie chick. And Jason Collette, obviously. But the best part was at intermission, when we were leaving (it was late, we were tired and had gotten our fill of acousticness) guess who was milling about? Haha.. everyone in the Toronto music scene! (sans Stars) We saw Sarah Harmer, Brendan Canning, Gentleman Reg, James Shaw (Metric, BSS), the bassist from Metric... who else? Mike almost came in his pants. It was pretty cool, seeing as it was a small place. Go us. Rubbing shoulders with Toronto indie ROCKSTARS! I didn't hear back from my job interview from last week. I also never got in touch with the woman from New College, who is hiring an office assistant for the registrar. I am jobless. Umm.. finally made it to Health Services! Go me. Also, Friday was ridiculously warm - I was walking around campus, doing errands, in just a t-shirt. I stopped by the Union to buy Nestea Lemon Green Tea (How I missed it!) and it was just like last year, around springtime.. v. weird experience. Then it was jam #2, again in our living room. Mike on guitar. Broke his g-string AGAIN (har har...). The percussionists: Iulia, Defne, Irfan, Trevor, James, Saba, Andrea for a bit, myself. Instruments: Bongos, cow bell, tambourines, maracas, sleigh bells, various sticks and pots and pans. Then we went to see Sin City - it was okay, the Clive Owen story was the best. He's so debonair. The Bruce Willis/Jessica Alba thing was just disturbing. A warning: it's two hours of (graphic novel) violence. Most of my time this week was spent eating much chocolate and fudge. I also got a b-day package from my dad - socks, more choco, and Help! on (Korean) DVD. Help!! Beatles awesomeness. They were so high when they made it.. oh, to live in 1965. Saturday Mike and I went down to Baldwin St. for some VERY good food. And we watched Josie and the Pussycats. It was our sixth month anniversary on Sunday. I got flowers. The romance isn't dead yet! The school pin further made the point that we're a couple straight out of the 1950's. He also brought us samosas.. mmmm. I downloaded the new Decemberists, which is SO GOOD. I recommend it highly. Better than Her Majesty. Also got the new Alkaline Trio, but haven't listened yet. Scott and his band of engineers have been making a mess of our dining room all week - building a robot for class. It's not so bad, but our first floor is covered in saw dust, and they are noisy, and there are always strange engineer boys here. Learned Nat (and new boy Matthew, who she's googly over) are coming in May to see M.I.A and will camp on our couch. I am seeing the Decemberists the same night, oh well. I probably wouldn't go anyway. I'm not a huge fan. |
