Lemon lime! Kiwi Strawberry!

24 January 2005 - 10:39 p.m.

Now I know why Torontonians get so uppity when it snows. Their city is seriously lacking in the snow removal department. Now, I'm told this is because of budget cuts, amalgamation, blah blah blah, but still. Sidewalks aren't cleared, roads aren't plowed. Walking through all this snow and slush is quite dangerous - v. slippery.
James described Montreal as having an "army" of snowplows. "You can't even tell it snowed, except for the snow banks." Ottawa's similar.

Friday James, Saba, Mike and I went to the Mod Club to see Metric after getting the General's (Cheap Chinese food rocks). Metric was excellent. Good times. We were near the front, but my pics just turned out okay. Saba: "Oh my God! We saw Emily's snatch!" Go white undies!

Saturday was our big dinner party. So many hours of cooking, while our friends got loud and boisterous in the living room. 11 people in total. 11 bottles of wine. The menu: roast lamb (I had about two bites of this, but it wasn't bad. My sister was offended - "that's the same as puppy or kitten!"), spinach/chick pea soup (REALLY good), a pasta salad with bell peppers (with raisins and capers), pineappled glazed carrots (yummy), brocolli and cauliflower with tomato sauce, tomato/cilantro/scallion salad. We also made scallopped potatoes, but forgot them in the oven.. and then my roomies ate them all last night without me. :( Dessert was a pecan pie bought by Chris, and a homemade cheesecake from Jen that was very good. She also made peanut butter cups. Yowza. Yowza.

Finished the night off with a game of strip poker. Seriously. But when the underwears came off, pillows were used for modesty. Scott had a hard time keeping his pillow on... damn! I didn't want to see that! We were all slightly scarred.

The funniest part was when James and I were having a strangely frank chat about sex. Scott kept saying things through the door like, "Pleasure her!", "Kool-Aid man!", "Oh yeah!", then yelled random flavours of Kool-Aid. Understandably, he was quite ill all of Sunday.

Oh, and Scott earlier had thrown up in our sink. Then knocked the toothbrushes in. Then tried to clean them off. Good thing Steph was there to tell him new ones were needed.

Sunday was much sleeping. Soph and I went to Soundscapes to buy Trews tickets (For Tia's first rock concert experience.. makes sense she would want to see the Nova Scotia band. I think she knows people who know them..). Alas they weren't selling them, leading us to believe that the people who work there are crackpots.

Then it was dinner with Mike and his parents, which went well. They mostly talked about their recent trip to Mexico. A few embarrassing stories were revealed. Good times, generally. I always like free food. I hadn't seen Mike with much of his family before (though, admittedly, more than he's seen of mine), but.. it's weird, I don't know, guys get... cuter? haha.. when you see them in family mode. Hmm.. makes sense in my head.

The new Bright Eyes' albums got blasted by allmusic... I don't know what to do!

BSS tomorrow! Go tsunami relief.
