HANSON Underneath (True North/Universal) :

Oh, how I wish Hanson would take their classic/power pop leanings one step further and get someone like, say, Jack White to produce their next record. Because dang if they don't have amazing songs on Underneath, but they suffer under the slick, adult contempo production. Songs like "Lost Without Each Other" and the Matthew Sweet co-penned "Underneath" are mix-tape must-haves, but they'd be even stronger if they didn't sound so squeaky-clean. But song for song, Underneath is better than just about any other pop record that'll come out this year. Steal it from your little sister — or better yet, buy it for her. Joanne Huffa (Chart)

"Rather than suffer the indignities of being full-grown men forced into boy-band clothing, fraternal trio Hanson severed major record-label ties to create the indie album "Underneath," a rock record they can be proud of now and when they're in rocking chairs looking back on the glory days... What make this album so good is the way the Hansons have mastered their instruments: Isaac is a fine guitarist, and Taylor's piano work and Zac's drumming are top shelf. Rather than fading into the record books as a chart-busting, one-hit wonder, Hanson has established itself as a credible rock band whose best years and music are still to come. "

Mwah ha ha!! Take that!!

I also just learned that Ben Kweller is a close friend of theirs. How cool.

Why oh why did they have to come to MuchOnDemand on Tuesday? Why not two weeks earlier, when I was in the T-dot?

On another note, saw a Canadian band called Enter the Haggis last night at the 'Fest, which included fiddle and bagpipes. They were very good.

Steph is coming to the O-town for a week in June. I wonder if her and Scott will surface long enough to come visit me. It'd be nice.
