“I don’t know why this Tickle-Me-Elmo doesn’t do it automatically like the other theatre."06 April 2004 - 4:09 a.m. So much Bartlett talk and innuendo today - I'm so ready for VIC240 next year. I really really really wish that DC++ would hurry up and get Gomez "Catch Me Up" because I want it so badly and no one has it!! Arrggh. So a lot is being said about Kurt Cobain lately, 10th anniversary and all. Articles are surfacing, MuchMoreMusic specials are airing, an CityTV had Kurt and Courtney playing tonight. It is making me want to read Heavier than Heaven, so Myra, I'll have to borrow it from you (seeing as I bought it for you last year). Read a fantastic article about Kubrick. The journalist looked through decades of boxes he kept, with all sorts of things filed away, correspondance, notes about his movies, pictures of prospective sets, etc. It was really good... and made me want to watch his movies again, or for the ones I haven't seen, obviously see them. Turns out he wanted to make a movie about Napoleon, and was obsessively collecting info on him. He hated to fly, and loved stationary. I'm OFFICIALLY majoring history and minoring in anthropology and Renaissance Studies. How exciting :-) Went to the gym tonight - exercise makes me want to die. But I shall persevere... or at least try, in this last month of school. Warning: Upcoming paragraphs full of music rambling: Been listening to strange music tonight - first, watched the BritBrit spotlight on MM, then Hole's Celebrity Skin (surprisingly good, poppy, very produced, clean sound, I like "Malibu" and "Northern Star"), then Third Eye Blind's first CD, since I just downloaded it, since mine is all scratched. I'll tell you, it brings me back to grade 8/9, specifically sitting in Myra's room while her and Al figure out how to sing/play Motorcycle Drive By for a coffee house, which never happened. I still think of that CD as theirs. Awww... what a couple :-) I love the song "I'm Bound to Pack It Up". Jack White is just awesome. The few songs I know by Neil Young are awesome (mostly the acoustic stuff from Live Rust). Also lots of Sloan, which is normal, and Usher - "You Don't Have to Call", Box Car Racer's "Letters to God" and "There Is" are good, as is Fiona Apple's "Never Is A Promise", and "Amsterdam" by Guster. Death Cab's Transatlanticism. Eclectic, I know. Talk about a random playlist. God, Chris just knocked on my door and it scared the crap out of me. I'm not sure why... very strange. Ummm.. yep. So. Uh... Steph's in Seattle so Scott's been hanging around with us all day, which is fun. He's been programming a Scrabble game for school, which is kinda cool. Makes me glad not to be an engineer, though. Must take more pictures. Must finish my roll of film. Someone remind me. Been thinking about making a mix CD about this year. I've been thinking about what to use. There are definitely songs that we've all sung and danced to, or just listened to over and over. I'm thinking Dispatch, Silverchair, The Darkness, BritBrit, Slaon, BNL, Sam Roberts, Usher, Andre3000... There are also the songs that Dave sang at the coffee house (Remember to Breathe, You Will, You Will and Amsterdam), he needs his space on the CD too. I was also thinking of making a CD with one song for everyone here, just something that reminds me of them, usually just something they like or played a lot. I had narrowed it down somewhat for James = Across the Night (Silverchair) and Mike = Tiny Vessels (Death Cab), but there are so many. Liam = The General (Dispatch) or You Will, You Will (Bright Eyes), Chris would be harder seeing as there are way too many. Probably The Band. Steph would be very hard, seeing as when she's here it's usually my music we're listening to. This is what I do when I'm supposed to be taking notes in lectures. I shall ponder some more, and try to put something together. A daunting task, I know. Need sleep now - last music class tomorrow morning :-( |
